Without Christianity all we'll have is oppressive totalitarianism

So thinks the current president of the EU parliament (Mr Jerzy Buzek) who recently highlighted that “the founding fathers of the united Europe were active Christians”. Many of the European elite seem to forget this point, given their increasing hostility to religion (and specifically Christianity). Interestingly it is this same elite who often champion equality and tolerance and yet by their antipathy towards the Christian faith, they show themselves to be an aggressive, and in reality intolerant, minority [who] would like to lock our faith in to the small box of our privacy. As Mr Buzek put it: “History shows that the empty space left by the removed cross has always been conquered by totalitarian ideologies. The disappearance of the cross often resulted not in the release but the enslavement of man.” Or as Jesus puts it: if you abide in my word [...] you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.
